that it inevitably lost owing to the difficulties it encountered during the last two years.

We also have to record the resignation of Dr. E. P. Minett who for many years had been Lecturer in Medical jurisprudence & Public Health and a member of the Board of the Faculty. His work was taken over by Dr. Greaves of the Bacteriological Institute. Dr. Greaves together with Dr. Begbie, Major Rowlette, R.A.M.C., Dr. J. W. Anderson and Dr. Guzdar, also carried out the work of the Pathology and Bacteriology Depart- ment before the arrival of Professor Davis.

Professor Digby proceeded on leave in November and his work in the Surgery Department and in the Hospital was taken over by Dr. I. Newton, Superintendent of the Government Civil Hospital and by Dr. Hsiu.

New Regulations.

The new regulations passed by the Faculty in 1930 were brought into force during the past year and for the first time a therapeutics and pharmacy examination was held as part of the 4th Degree Examination. The examination in Junior Pathology was dispensed with and Pharmacology was merged into Physio- logy.

It has now been arranged to give a special course of practical pharmacy at the Government Civil Hospital under the guidance of Mr. Shand, the Hospital Apothecary. The course, which is held two afternoons a week, is attended by students who are acting as anæsthetic clerks. A new clinical appointment has been in- stituted, namely that of Radiology & Venereal Diseases; this appointment is to be held annually for a period of three months by a succession of students who thus receive instruction in Radiology for six weeks and instruction in Venereal Diseases for the remaining six weeks.

Boxer Indemnity.

The receipt by the University of a contribution from the Boxer Indemnity gave the Faculty the chance to recommend Most of the some long-delayed and necessary improvements. recommendations provide for further increases in the Junior

Staff, the object being to give our graduates more opportunity for post-graduate sudy and teaching experience.
